Reports – Table

Is a report template that allows users to create their own reports and share them across the organization. Through ad-hoc reports the user can choose to create a single domain or to include two or more domains as it can be seen in the picture below.

The most common use for Reports – table is to efficiently list data in a table that can be filtered and refined later on. However, there are some limitations regarding the data that can be selected to include in the table, for example, MDF objects, effective dated information, cross domain reporting.

Reports – Custom

Ad-hoc report customization is possible using Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools (BIRT) which is an open source technology platform that helps create data visualizations and reports that can be embedded into rich client and web applications. By using BIRT we can create lists, group data, graphs and much more.

Reports – Canvas

A canvas report is of great value to reporting since the results shown are live SuccessFactors data. When creating a canvas report a user can utilize the tool’s features that covers creating multiple pages, pivot tables, charts, text & images or simple lists to report on a set of fields. This easy to use drag and drop tool is considered the official reporting tool for SuccessFactors.

In addition to the features mentioned above, a user can create calculated fields and create pivot tables where results are shown in real time. Users have the ability to share online, export to PDF, Word, Excel, PPT or email via a Report Distribution tool.

They are standalone individual Youcalc Tiles. Each tile consists of a chart and has drill-to-details capabilities. Tiles are combined together in order to create a dashboard. The Youcalc engine is an in-memory analytics and calculation engine pulling data from the Ad-hoc reporting framework. This allows the data to be 100% up to date (real time, with no delays).

Dashboards consist of several tiles that are consolidated on one page facilitate access to live data. Dashboards are divided into two types:

1) dashboard tiles

2) standard dashboards

What is the difference between a tile, a standard dashboard?

Dashboard Tiles Standard Dashboards

They are the future of dashboards. They are fast, flexible, and have intelligent logic for how it is visualized depending on the amount of data. Since each tile is independent, users have the choice of mixing and matching tiles into their desired dashboards. Partners or Professional Services can build advanced custom tiles at additional cost, but at a much lower price than standard dashboards (because they are simpler now that each tile is a separate entity).

They are slower than tiles, hardcoded and have complex logic that may not always work for all customers. Standard dashboard cannot be edited and does not allow hiding any of the charts, so the customer’s requirements should match the dashboard in order to proceed with it. If one of the charts in the dashboard does not work, users will see a dashboard with a broken chart inside which is not ideal. Customized dashboards can be created via costly engagements with partners or professional services.

All future standard content for the dashboard framework will be tiles. The main reason is that it is the most flexible mechanism for sharing standard content because customers can adopt the tiles they like and mix and match the tiles into dashboards as they please.
